Tropical dial Rolex "Triple 6" Sea-Dweller from 1984

The Rolex "Triple 6" Sea-Dweller is the perfect neo-vintage dive watch, showcasing the best of The Crown’s dive technology. These watches could dive twice as deep as their Submariner siblings, largely thanks to their helium escape valve. The biggest misconception regarding getting watches deeper into the sea was not so much the pressure of keeping water out, but the buildup of helium gas pressure inside the watch that would try to escape. Rolex took on this challenge by introducing a helium valve on the side of the case that allowed only helium to be released as divers came back up.

This specific 16660 reference has a beautiful dial that is turning tropical, with bits of brown popping through. It’s a wabi-sabi look that’s extremely desirable in the vintage watch-collecting community.
