Tropical Zenith A384 El Primero
Tropical Zenith A384 El Primero
Story
An iconic, vintage Zenith chronograph from 1970
The A384 stands alongside the Daytona and Speedmaster as one of history's most iconic chronographs. Believed to be one of only 2,600 units produced, this specific example features a stunning “tropical” dial. Originally a stark black-and-white monochromatic layout, the dial has matured over the years into rich cream and brown tones, making it truly one-of-a-kind.
The 37.5mm tonneau-shaped case wears larger than its dimensions suggest, retaining a sharp, angular profile that appears unpolished with crisp bevels. It is paired with a rare, correct 1972 Gay Frères Ladder bracelet. While the hands have been professionally color-matched and stabilized, the watch remains a distinct, character-rich alternative to the commonly seen Daytona.
