Believe it or not, it ain’t easy to make jeans that are stylish, comfortable and better for the environment. The Wellen crew knew this before they started crafting their Organic Jeans, but they didn’t balk at the prospect, and if you ask us their Organic Jeans are a bullseye. The classic tapered fit is perfect for those inspiring moments by the water with your jeans rolled up and the sand between your toes. Sometimes doing things differently is a hard choice—but choosing a pair of jeans that does things differently just got a whole lot easier.

Materials

Denim: 100% organic cotton
Pockets: 65% polyester, 35% cotton

To make their jeans in a better way, Wellen sources organic cotton, which puts less chemicals into the earth and less greenhouse gases into the air, and partners with a factory that recycles the water used in the manufacturing process and then, even better, upcycles the water by cleaning it and then providing it to local farms to irrigate their crops—overall, they’re a better choice for the environment.

About Wellen

Bonfires on the beach, first light surf sessions, windows down on a weekend road trip. These laid back, no-shoes days are what inspire Wellen. Originally born in SoCal, honed during San Francisco’s Indian summers, and tested on our travels to Montauk, Bali, and beyond, Wellen partners with responsible factories around the world to craft soft, sustainable essentials for sun and swell.

Sustainability

Wellen wants to make doing good as easy as throwing on your favorite t-shirt. To minimize our impact on the planet and ensure that future generations are able to enjoy those low and slow days on the water, Wellen is guided by the following design principles:

Sustainable Materials: The majority of the environmental impact of apparel occurs at the raw materials stage. That’s why all Wellen apparel is crafted exclusively from either organic or recycled fibers and Bluesign®-approved fabrics that feel great on your skin and wear in, not out.
Ethical and Sustainable Factories: Wellen only partners with forward-thinking factories that create fair, safe, and healthy working conditions, and lead the industry in sustainability practices. For example, almost all excess water and scraps generated in the creation of a Wellen garment are recycled and repurposed into commercial products—like bricks!
Responsible Purchasing: Wellen is committed to small batch manufacturing. The apparel industry has troubling overstock problems, sending tons of unsold merchandise into landfills. By producing limited runs, we ensure every Wellen garment gets its day in the sun.

Wellen’s jeans have a straight tapered fit that roomy but not baggy, with room to move in the thigh down through the ankle
