Japanese Military Overshirt
Story
A Japanese-made tribute to the iconic 1943 fatigue jacket
With every piece made in Japan from start to finish, Flint and Tinder’s Japan Reserve Capsule reimagines American classics through the lens of Japanese craftsmanship. Ever since our Head Designer, Nick Kemp, flipped through Japanese vintage clothing magazines early in his career, he’s been inspired by the idea of wabi-sabi—finding beauty in simplicity, and honoring the imperfections that come with age.
This Military Overshirt takes its cues from the legendary U.S. Army M-43 silhouette, rebuilt from start to finish in Japan using premium military sateen. Every detail honors the 1943 original while elevating the construction for the modern day. From the double-reinforced stitching to the authentic reverse sateen fabric, this small-batch piece balances rugged utility with refined Japanese tailoring. It’s a versatile, mid-weight layer that feels lived-in from the first wear but is tough enough to become a permanent fixture in your rotation.
