Loopwheeled Long Sleeve Henley
Loopwheeled Long Sleeve Henley
Story
A henley that honors its blue collar beginnings
Henleys are a fickle shirt to get right. Some are thin and flexible, but lose their shape after the second wash. Others are too thick and durable, making them only viable during cold-weather months. Cue Merz b. Schwanen’s Loopwheeled Long Sleeve Henley. It nails the fit and features: sturdy and soft organic cotton, flat-knitted cuffs, and Mother of Pearl buttons. As an added nod to its heritage roots, the round neckline mimics the original henley design worn by blue collar workers and soldiers.

Again, it’s easiest to measure across the back of the garment - Body Length: Start at the top of the shoulder where it meets the neck seam, and measure straight down to the hem - Sleeve Length: Start at the center of the back of the neck, measure straight across to the shoulder seam, and then follow the edge of the garment to the cuff. Pro tip: it’s easiest to measure across the back of the sleeve

About Merz b. Schwanen
Of all the clothing brands out there, perhaps none takes the adage “quality over quantity” more to heart than Merz b. Schwanen. Founded in 1911 by Balthazar Merz, the brand was brought back to life decades later when the future founders discovered a 90-year-old henley shirt at a Berlin flea market. They were moved by the quality of the garment to revitalize the brand and soon began a long process of restoring rare Loopwheeler machines (originally built between 1889 and 1969) in a workshop in the Swabian Alps of Germany. Each machine is dedicated to a particular size, and it takes an hour to knit enough fabric, row by row, for a single shirt. The result is a garment in timeless style crafted from soft organic cotton that just might last you 100 years.
