Old-world Loopwheeler craftsmanship sets a new standard for a shirt with enduring style
Of all the clothing brands out there, perhaps none takes the adage “quality over quantity” more to heart than Merz b. Schwanen. Inspired by an almost 100-year-old workwear shirt discovered at a flea market, the founders soon began a long process of restoring rare Loopwheeler machines (originally built between 1889 and 1969) in a workshop in the Swabian Alps of Germany. Each machine is dedicated to a particular size, and it takes an hour to knit enough fabric, row by row, for a single shirt. The result is a timeless style crafted from soft organic cotton that just might last you 100 years.
