Our friend Mason Hereford is somehow both larger than life and a man of the people—he’s professionally trained in fine dining, but the least pretentious guy we know. Which perfectly explains how he’s able to make the best tasting sandwiches on Earth at his New Orleans restaurant, Turkey and the Wolf. Named the Best New Restaurant in America in 2017 and continuing to blow minds every year since, Turkey and the Wolf is now a NOLA institution that serves a mean turkey sandwich.
Needless to say, we had no other option but to ask Mason to be the judge for our annual Thanksgiving Leftover Sandwich Contest, and we quickly became thick as thieves. He even blessed us with what he calls the Camp Spice: an absolutely stellar blend of savory spices that goes with everything from pork chops to sandwiches to burgers.
