The Ref. 1680 can be considered the archetype for the modern Submariner Date. Debuting in the late 1960s, this reference brought date functionality to the Submariner lineup for the first time.

This specific example, produced in the late 1970s near the end of the 1680’s production run, features the monochromatic white "Submariner" text that replaced the earlier "Red" script. It sports a Mark I (MK1) dial—the first variant of the all-white 1680—characterized by rich yellow lume and housed in a sharp, unpolished case. Framed by a correct MK3 bezel insert, this is a truly captivating example that we can't take our eyes off.
