Story

Exclusive, American-made boot handcrafted from an upcycled U.S. Army tent from the 1940s

DuringWorld War II, U.S. Army "pup" tents were two-man A-frames assembled canvas halves, poles, and ropes.. These, along with larger pyramidal tents, were ubiquitous at training camps like Camp Blanding and occasionally used for post-war housing, marking a versatile era of military and (sometimes) domestic living.

The Flint and Tinder x Easymoc Scout Boot utilizesan authentic vintage U.S. Army pup tent sourced by our friends at Easymoc. The tent comes from Bobby From Boston, the well-known Boston-area vintage outfitter that grew from Bobby Garnett’s personal collection into a showroom, and eventually an internationally renowned source of rare vintage goods.

Each pair of these collaborative boots is handmade in Easymoc’s Lewiston, Maine workshop and features a crazy horse leather upper with quarter paneling cut from cleaned, waxed pup tent patches. Tonal brown stitching, brass eyelets, and a Vibram® camp sole are added to make the shoe as comfortable and timeless as possible.

We couldn’t be prouder to partner with Easymoc on a project that honors American heritage and craftsmanship. It’s no metaphor when we say we’re walking in a piece of U.S. history.
