Story
Traditionally manufactured on original loopwheelers in Germany
This Classic Cotton Fleece Sweatshirt by Merz b. Schwanen is not your average closet dweller. Crafted in Germany on original loopwheelers, it’s built with durable side seams for lasting structure, while the organic cotton fleece delivers maximum comfort. Triangle inserts at the neckline and under the arms add a touch of old-school style, and just for good measure, they thoughtfully added a little extra length to offset any shrinkage.

About Merz b. Schwanen
Originally founded in 1911, Merz B Schwanen was reborn in 2011 when designers Gitta and Peter Plotnicki found one of their first henleys at a flea market. They saw that at 90 years-old, this henley still had life in it and decided that Merz B Schwanen had to make a comeback. Floored by the henley’s quality, craftsmanship, and insane comfort, Gitta and Peter found the original factory in southern Germany, repaired the century-old loopwheel machines, and got to work on reviving the brand. Today, their apparel is just like the originals: handcrafted on loopwheel machines to create authentic circular knits—in other words, there are no side seams like you would find in today’s modern shirting. And with each new release, you can tell that the legacy of Merz B Schwanen is just as alive today as it was in 1911.
