Story

A heavyweight, cold-weather version of a bestselling, made-in-USA Oxford

This buttondown has a rich history. Only a few shirt-makers have managed to keep 100% of their production in the United States–Gitman Brothers is one of them, with a lineage that dates back all the way to 1932. Heritage is woven into every piece, usually with the expertise of the third- and fourth-generation garment makers that the company employs. For this Brushed Fall Oxford shirt, they used a heavier 6 oz. cotton cloth that's been brushed for softness and increased loft. We also love the off-white, contrasting weft yarns that give a vintage look that's just as wearable today as it was nearly 100 years ago.

About Gitman Vintage

The shirtmaking tradition Max Gitman started in 1932 is still being carried out to this day. Besides the sewing rooms where seasoned shirtmakers cut and sew Gitman’s prized pieces, their HQ is practically a library of rare fabrics and heritage designs going back nearly a century. By poring over this history, Gitman Vintage gets the ideas for each of their small, seasonal collections. Maybe one release is an oxford dye we’ve never seen before, and the next is a sturdy, limited-run flannel—each leaving us wanting to make a couple more long-term investments in our wardrobe.
