Story

Side-gore Western style boots, entirely hand cut and benchmade with old-world techniques

Boots have a remarkable way of telling a story. One look at the weathered patina and worn-in creases in a pair of vintage cowboy boots, and you can practically hear everywhere their owner went, from frontier's edge to city street. With their handcrafted full-grain leather upper, and layers of hand-shaved 100% vegetable-tanned leather sole, we expect these Western style boots from Yuketen to tell quite a yarn one day. Especially since their meticulous stitching and leather insoles aren't just damn durable, but made to conform to the wearer's foot shape over time for long-term comfort. With a set-up like that, we can't wait to see where this story goes.

Features

  • Entirely sewn by hand and benchmade in Mexico using traditional techniques
  • Richly colored and malleable full grain leather upper is designed to take on contrast and rich patina over time
  • Full leather insoles will naturally shape to your foot over time
  • Layered leather welt, outsole, and stacked heel are made to stand the test of time
  • Lemonwood pegs hand-hammered into the outsole and stacked heel are more malleable than modern brass nails, able to expand and contract when exposed to moisture just like leather
  • Goodyear stitches are made by 1910 German-made welt stitcher with close channel technique to eliminate thread breakage
  • Hand-sanded insoles help absorb moisture and keep feet dry

About Yuketen

Every now and then you get a mad scientist-type innovator who seems to bend all the rules. Well turns out that Yuketen’s lead designer, Yuki Matsuda, falls into that category—and it’s totally paid off, since he’s now one of the most revered shoemakers out there. Using traditional shoe-making techniques and heritage styles as his foundation (think work boots and moccasins) he reimagines the whole shoe—adding here, taking away there, resulting in a modern hybrid of all the best-looking and comfiest parts.
