Arizona Classic Footbed Sandal
Story
The OG sandals that put Birkenstock on the map
Before the release of the Arizona, Birkenstock was a little-known German shoemaker with roots going all the way back to the 18th century. But when guys in the ‘70s started giving Birks a shot, their comfortable-as-hell footwear became hard to keep in stock worldwide. The Arizona is the brand’s best-known model, and it’s still going strong today. The sculpted cork footbed cradles your feet for a comfy ride, the EVA outsole offers lockdown grip, and the dual-strap leather upper serves up a heritage look that only gets better with time.

About Birkenstock
Some things have their moment and pass away into the cultural ether never to be seen again, but not Birkenstock. It’s safe to say the German brand’s laid-back sandals have been having their moment for over 50 years since they first dropped in the US in the 1960s. They were the flagship sandal of the new casual cool style that overtook menswear back then, and have remained a mainstay in both the mainstream and the counterculture ever since. But it didn’t start there—Birkenstock’s shoemaking heritage stretches all the way back to 1774, and once you slip into a pair, you’ll immediately recognize they’ve learned a thing or two about comfortable, high-quality footwear along the way. Still innovating after nearly 250 years, Birkenstock persistently strives toward responsible manufacturing, like upcycling leftover cork from the wine industry for their insoles and introducing a newly designed, even more comfortable and anatomically correct footbed in 2009. All of which is to say, when you slip into these world-renowned sandals, you’re not only putting on a style icon, you’re putting on the best of the best.
